What is a Birth Doula ?

A birth doula is a professional who provides birthing people and families with continuous practical, emotional, physical and informative support through the spectrum of pregnancy, labour and birth. This support can be for your first or subsequent pregnancies. 

It is your choice how and where you give birth and a doula is there to provide you unbiased individualized support.

This care can include preconception, pregnancy, birth, abortion, miscarriage and postpartum.

My care as a doula is inclusive to ALL families knowing all people and families are unique.

I hope to provide compassionate, grounding care with an evidence based and holistic approach. 

Birth Doula Support

Informative Care

A doula provides informative care and resources so you can make the best decisions for you and your family on where and how you would like to give birth. Doula's can answer your questions and provide you with research to make fully informed decisions and advocate for yourself or your partner  throughout your pregnancy and birth.

Emotional Care

A doula assists in emotional care throughout your journey of pregnancy into the postpartum period. This includes taking time check in with you and fully listen without giving biased advice, providing reassurance and being a friendly encouraging part of your support system. Doula's will discuss extra emotional support tools from fear release, grounding & calming techniques and planning to support emotions and mental health postpartum. 

Physical Care

Physical care during labour and birth includes assisting with supportive movements and breath, offering you and your birth partner (if applicable) food and drinks, providing or setting up comfort measures, optimal environment preparation, birth partner support. Phone and text check in's during pregnancy. 

Practical Care

As part of my care I offer access to my private platform of tools and resources to support my clients.

Practical care includes pregnancy, labour, birth & postpartum education and preparation, putting plans in place for the postpartum and adjustments to life with a newborn, support by phone, text or email for any questions and providing details of other types of care providers in your area when needed.
